Valentine's Day Cookies!!

Valentine's Day is a big deal here it seems. The week before Valentine's Day the kids in Riley's class all made a special paper bag that they decorated with hearts etc to collect their Valentine's cards in. The week leading up to Valentine's Day the kids were allowed to bring in their cards and place them in the other kids' special bags and then on the Friday (the day before Valentine's Day) the class had a special morning tea where they were each allowed to bring in a treat and the kids were allowed to take home their specially decorated bags and see who gave them a Valentine (judging by Riley's stash I think it is the done thing to give one to everyone - oopsie we only did 8......I didn't realise you could buy kits for such occasions and so we made ours from scratch). For the morning tea Riley and I decided to make heart shaped cookies for the class. He was very good when it came to decorating them and even made a couple of 'special' ones.....

Hard at work.

The first plate of decorated ones. The one with the 'M' on it is for the girl that he has a crush on called Megan (of course here it is pronounced Maygan and he is constantly correcting me) apparently she liked having a special cookie.

This flower cookie was for Riley's teacher.

Snow day snow angels................

A couple of weeks ago we had our first 'snow day' of the winter which basically means that all buses are cancelled and schools are closed on account of the snow. Riley thought what better thing to do on a snow day then to go outside and make snow angels.

As you can see the snow was pretty deep, it almost completely covered the dump truck in the background.

In position.........

Looking good!!

The concentration on his little face - not helped by the fact that it was snowing and falling on his face which I imagine was pretty cold but he was determined.

Sadly I was unable to get a good shot of the completed snow angel because every time he tried to get up he would mess the snow up around the snow angel so the shape was not recognisable which of course was very disheartening for the poor little guy as you can see in the next pic.....

Random Pics of the Kids

There is no real story linking any of these pics together just a few random pics of the kids over the last few weeks. The camera is out on the kitchen bench all the time so we are taking pics nearly every day.

Riley being a monkey - he tells me he learned how to do this from his Aunty Brookie.....now if only I could find the pic of Aunty Brookie doing this to post here with these two LOL!!

Emily also being a 'little monkey'

Emily just loves to wear anything that belongs to Riley. His beanies are amongst her favourite items to steal, right up there with the beanies are Riley's snow boots!!

Ha Ha got your beanie!!

Now this gives new meaning to 'getting into the cupboards'. The kids have a cupboard for all their plastic plates and bowls and they have a drawer for all of their plastic cups. Emily often helps me to put away those dishes and has just recently been helping herself to a cup and holding it up to the fridge saying 'juice' which seems to be universal for drink of any kind....she has also started to take bowls out of the cupboard and bring them to me saying "Yum" when she is hungry.

Poor Riley was trying to watch a bit of telly when Emily decided it would be fun to sit on him. He is so sweet he never minds her crawling all over him.

Hugs for pony.....

Emily just loves to bounce around on Pony.

Emily has just learned that once a picture is taken on the digital camera she gets to see it, so now she is more interested in seeing the pics than she is in being photographed - she has not yet made the connection that in order to see the pic you have to let Mummy take one!!

The kids both really enjoy snuggling up together in Riley's old sleeping bag fold out couch and watching cartoons together.

They both just look so relaxed.

Riley loves to read stories to Emily and now that he is learning to read more and more words he is really enjoying it. She loves to sit with him but does not have the attention span to sit through a whole story so picture books are still a favourite with her.

Waiting patiently at the brekky table for everyone to join her.......oh and to bring her some food!!

Helping Mummy to make omelets (whilst still managing to watch tv).

Helping Mummy to make omelets whilst still managing to watch tv..........now I wonder where she gets that from??

Chocoholics......

These pics are getting a little old now because I have been rather slack at updating my blog but a few weeks ago we made oreo smoothies. Seems both my kids take after their Mummy in the chocolate loving stakes!!

This has to be one of my all time favourite candid pics. Emily was cracking up laughing at Riley for pulling silly faces and flashing me her 'special' smile when I took this one.

Hmmm is chocolate my colour I wonder......

What chocolate?

Our New (Used) Ride

A couple of weekends ago, after a very long search we finally found and purchased a family car. We are now the proud owners of a 2004 Dodge Durango. It is so nice to be a two car family again and Brad can now drive himself to and from work which means that he does not have to get up extra early and trudge out in the snowy weather to catch two buses to work anymore and it also means that the kids and I are not getting in and out of Brad's 2 Door Pontiac Grand Am either so we are all very happy. The snow in these pictures is now all but gone with our recent 'warm' weather, we have been enjoying temps of up to 10 degrees celcius which is a welcome change from minus 20!!

This one is just for you Bec!!!
